Jeremy Hegge (Melbourne) will be sharing a presentation titled ‘Rare or just ignored? The current mystery of Australian macrofungi diversity.‘
Jeremy Hegge (he/him) is a citizen scientist, mushroom educator and amateur mycologist based in Naarm/Melbourne.
Since beginning his business, Partial Veil, in 2024, he has run 100’s of mushroom walks across southern Victoria and several in South-east Queensland. Jeremy adopts a slow and researched approach to identification with a strong focus on understanding taxonomy andAustralian fungal biodiversity. Although he is interested in sustainable mushroom foraging, his main interest is to document and share his enthusiasm for the wonder of the fungal kingdom.
He is an active contributor to iNaturalist with over 10K observations and over 30K fungi identifications. He also helps moderate several large fungi identification groups on social media and has identified countless mushrooms for others over the past 5+ years.

Our speaker is Caine Barlow, sharing a presentation titled ‘Fungal ecology: a molecular perspective.‘
Caine Barlow is a mycologist, fungi educator, ethnobotanist, independent researcher, and Science Writer based in Melbourne, Australia. He gives regular talks on mycology, fungi conservation, and teaches gourmet mushroom cultivation. He is a member of the Australian organisations Entheogenesis Australis, The PATCH, and is a co-founder of The Entheome Foundation.

First Foray for 2026
Our first foray for 2026 will be at Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens on Sunday 7th June from 10am – 12pm.

Meet at the upper car park off of Mawson Drive/Mount Lofty Summit Road.
